Plant-based botanicals are skin beautifiers.
Plant based ingredients are very beneficial for the skin. Many natural ingredients can effectively treat skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and acne, while also being used as beautifiers for anti-aging. Natural ingredients though aren’t completely free from causing issues for some with certain allergies or sensitivities. It’s important to use trusted products that take this into consideration. Some essential oils like lemon oil (not to be confused with lemongrass), or orange oil, can be irritating or photosensitive (sun) to some.
Natural beauty product companies have been leaders in eliminating questionable ingredients like commonly seen parabens and sulfates. Synthetic sulfates (sodium lauryl sulfate…SLS) are used in product mixtures to help create lather removing dirt and oil. SLS can be questionable because of irritating the skin, eyes, worsen acne and make skin much dryer in the long run. This can dry the skin and promote wrinkles and fine lines. SLS can also strip color from color treated hair. SLS can be irritating to the respiratory when in spray form such as spray gels and even cleaning products. Natural plant-based sulfates derived from coconut or palm oils are typically less irritating and becoming the preferred choice.
Another ingredient being avoided are paraben-based ingredients. Parabens have been used as antimicrobials, which is extremely important, but there are some controversies concerning our health. There are many plant-based natural antimicrobials much safer for our health. Radish Root is one such up and coming natural plant-based derived preservative effective for natural products. Tea Tree and Rosemary are also plant-based ingredients that help products from oxidizing and offer beautifying results for the skin. They later though may be less effective in water-based blends but work well in predominantly oil-based products.
Vitamin D is the newest must have rejuvenator in skincare products. Most of us have learned lately the importance of this pro hormone. Internally, in the appropriate amounts, vitamin D is very helpful to our bone and skin integrity.
Many of us have increased or even started taking vitamin D internally in supplement form. Many of us may not be absorbing it or forgetting to take it with food, as it is fat soluble, and many of us can even be overdosing. A simple blood test can determine your levels and what is right for you. Consult your Dr.
